Henny Valentino’s installation explores the tension between introversion and the pressures of an extraverted society. A figure lies face-down, wires trailing from its body, suggesting a relationship of both reliance and exhaustion. The posture speaks to withdrawal and overwhelm, a quiet resistance to societal demands for constant interaction and visibility.

Set against an enveloping blue backdrop, the piece evokes a sense of introspection and isolation. Drawing on ideas from Michel Serres’ The Parasite, the wires suggest a dynamic of give and take, where connection is both sustaining and draining.

Adding to the atmosphere, the sound of an irregular heartbeat plays in the background, oscillating between anxiety and calm, amplifying the emotional tension within the work.

Valentino’s work invites viewers to consider the complexities of living in a world that often prioritizes performance over introspection.
